Installation<\/strong>
\nDownload the archive using the link above and unzip it to any location on your machine (including Programs Files).<\/p>\n

Description<\/strong>
\nThe game is about covering in a single color a grid that starts with each cell colored randomly with one of six possible colors. You must expand the working region initially defined my the top-left cell throughout the entire grid. You select to color this working region with a new color that should match the color of neighboring cells. These cells are then merged into the working region. The game ends when you covered the grid in a single color. However, each level has a maximum allowed number of moves (or colorings) that you can do, and you only complete (or win) the level if you don’t exceed this number. <\/p>\n

The size of the grid can vary from 5 x 5 to 50 x 50. Initially it starts at the lowest (which is 5) and each time you complete a level, it automatically goes to the next level. However, you can change the level at any time (except when a game is in progress) by using the slider (or the buttons on its left and right) on the right pane. <\/p>\n

To start a game (at the current level) press the Play<\/strong> button (see the image below). At any point, you can cancel the game by pressing the Abort<\/strong> button. Two other available commands are Stats<\/strong>, that displays a window with statistics, and Help<\/strong>, that displays a window with information about the game. If you open any of these two windows during the game, the game is paused and resumed when you close them.<\/p>\n

The top-right area of the window displays six buttons, each in a different color. You use these buttons to color the current working region in a new color. However, these buttons are disabled when a game is not in progress.<\/p>\n

When a current game ends a window is displayed showing whether if you won or lost. The following images shows these possible displays:<\/p>\n

You completed the level beating the maximum moves:

You lost (completed the level but exceeded the maximum moves):

The play time of a game is recorded and saved and when you beat the best previous time, you have a record achievement, which is displayed as shown above. If you open the statistics or help window while a game is in progress, the game is paused and resumed when you close the window, so the timer does not count the time while these windows are displayed.<\/p>\n

The Help window shows information about the game and a short description for how to play the game.

The Statistics window shows the number of wins, the number of total plays and the time record for each level.

Color Themes<\/strong>
\nThe game can be customized with different color themes for the windows and for the grid. You can select between the available themes using the two combos from the right pane. <\/p>\n

The combo on top is used for selecting window themes (background, text, borders, etc.), and currently there are three: Black, White and Navy.

The second combo is used for selecting grid color themes, and currently there are five available: Default, 4Bit, Black and White, Ocean and Heat (from top-down in the combo).

User Data<\/strong>
\nWhen you close the game your progress (current level), statistics (total plays, wins and time records for each level) and settings (color themes) are stored in a file on disk and reloaded when you start the game again. You don’t have to worry about it, it’s done automatically. However, if you want to erase these data the file is stored in your Windows user’s local application data, which is C:\\Users\\<username><\/em>\\AppData\\Local\\MariusBancila\\ColorsGame<\/strong> on Windows Vista and newer and C:\\Documents and Settings\\<username><\/em>\\Local Settings\\Application Data\\MariusBancila\\ColorsGame<\/strong> on Windows XP (where <username> stands for your actual user name). The file has the same name as your Windows name and extension .cgs. So if your Windows user name is John, then the file is C:\\Users\\John\\AppData\\Local\\MariusBancila\\ColorsGame\\John.cgs<\/em> on Windows Vista and newer and C:\\Documents and Settings\\John\\Local Settings\\Application Data\\MariusBancila\\ColorsGame\\John.cgs<\/em> on Windows XP.<\/p>\n
