The voting for standardizing OpenXML as an international standard closed on September 2nd, with a very tight result: 74% for and 26% against. The percentage needed to pass was 75%. Some of the countries that voted against were France, Brazil, China, Denmark, Ireland, India and New Zealand. Microsoft now has to address the comments and pursue at least some of those that voted ‘no’ to change their vote. Probably the process will end next year.
